Toddlers
About
At Busy Bees, our ethos is rooted in the strong relationships we build with families, the positive development of the children in our care, and our active role within the community. Our staff are highly qualified, experienced, and confident practitioners who are dedicated to supporting every child’s growth and wellbeing.
We take a child-centred approach, with a committed team that values and nurtures the individuality of each child. Learning is carefully supported and enhanced through a wide range of resources, meaningful experiences, and by following the interests of the children in our care
Typical Day
A Day at Busy Bee Marshalwick
Our day begins with a warm and welcoming registration time, where children are gently encouraged to listen, respond to their names, and proudly say “Busy Bee Marshalwick.” This helps build confidence, communication, and a sense of belonging right from the start.
Through lively songs and action rhymes, children learn about the days of the week and explore the ever-changing weather. We also introduce simple Makaton signs, supporting early communication and inclusion for all.
We believe children learn best through play. With access to two well-resourced rooms and free-flow outdoor space, children can follow their interests and curiosity. Activities include:
* Small world play and imaginative role play
* A cosy book corner for quiet moments
* Creative arts like painting, colouring, and crafts
* Open-ended exploration with natural materials, sand, and water
* Favourite themes like dinosaurs and dolls’ houses
Each day includes a carefully planned adult-led activity, linked to a weekly theme, offering exciting opportunities to explore, discover, and learn new skills.
After tidy-up time, we come together to enjoy a story and share a healthy snack, encouraging social skills and good habits.
In smaller groups, children take part in enriching activities such as music, mindfulness, stretching, dance, and interactive storytelling—supporting both physical development and emotional wellbeing.
Outdoor play is a vital part of our day. Children can run, hop, skip, ride bikes, and challenge themselves on climbing equipment—building confidence, coordination, and resilience.
Towards the end of the morning, preschool and toddler groups join together for singing and celebrations, creating a strong sense of community before the session finishes at 12:15pm.
Children staying for lunch enjoy a calm and social mealtime. After washing their hands, they sit together to enjoy their packed lunches.
The afternoon builds on the morning’s learning, offering extended opportunities for play, discovery, and creativity. Children of different ages learn alongside each other, forming friendships and developing important social skills.
Our day finishes at 3:00pm, when children are collected, taking home new experiences, friendships, and smiles from a day full of learning and fun.
